90×120 cms/ 35.4×47.2 inches/ 3.0×3.9 feet

Mookambika Devi represents the divine confluence of wisdom, strength, and compassion, an embodiment of Goddess Parvati, revered as Adi Parashakti. Her temple in Kollur, nestled within the Kodachadri hills, is believed to radiate her spiritual power and mastery over sacred knowledge.

According to legend, when the demon Kaumasura sought invincibility through Lord Shiva’s boon, Adi Parashakti manifested with the combined energies of Saraswati, Lakshmi, and Parvati. Goddess Saraswati silenced the demon by taking away his speech—turning him into a “Mooka” (mute)—before the Divine Mother destroyed him, thus earning the name Mookambika (Mooka + Ambika, “The Mother who silenced the demon”). This painting pays homage to that myth, celebrating divine justice and the victory of light over ignorance.
